Ted Pitman - Coracle Making
Coracle Maker Using somerset willow a branch, 2" to 3" thick and approx 9ft long is riven(split) in two using a froe. Each half is shaved to lath thickness using a drawknife. 18 or so laths form the frame by steam bending the laths into shape.The display also includes information, photos etc on the history of coracles together with a collection of minatures (1/10 scale)which show the many styles of coracles which were used on various rivers in Wales and England.
